Under patronage of Prof. Mohammed Hussein, Acting Tanta University President; Prof. Mahmoud Salim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Dr. Amal Abdel Sattar, Executive Manager for the Main Center for Community Public Services, Faculty of Education organized a symposium under the title, “Eradicating Illiteracy and Adult Education, a Second Opportunity for Long-Life Education” in cooperation with Adult and Continuing Education Center.
This symposium was held in the light of the cooperation between Tanta University and the General Authority for Adult Education. It was held under patronage of Prof. Eid Abdel Wahed, Head of the Executive Body of the General Authority for Adult Education, along with representatives from the authority's branch in Gharbia, led by Mr. Mohamed Abu Al-Nabayel, General Manager of Gharbia Branch, with participation of Dr. Mohamed Amoud, Director of Adult Education Unit for Persons with Special Needs at the Authority.
The symposium program included various segments. It started with the national anthem, followed by a flag display by the student union and the scout. Next, some verses from the Holy Quran were recited, followed by a documentary showcasing Egypt's efforts in literacy and adult education. After that, Prof. Walid Samir, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, delivered a speech on behalf of Prof. Ahmed Helal, Faculty Dean. This was followed by a speech by Prof. Fatima Munir Allamie, Director of Adult and Continuing Education Center at the University, and a speech by Dr. Mohamed Amoud. Then, Prof. Abdel Fattah Sa’d, Coordinator of the Literacy Project, delivered a speech highlighting the faculty's role in supporting the project.
The symposium was attended by Prof. Yasser Bayyoumi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Ahmed Raga’y, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research; Prof. Umaima Helmy, Head of Comparative Education Department; Prof. Faten Fouda, Head of Curricula and Teaching Methodology Department; and Prof. Huda Sa’d, Full Professor at Comparative Education Department; in addition to many academic staff and assistant staff.
