Vision

The department is unique in preparing a distinguished teacher academically, professionally, and ethically in teaching English and French and their arts and sciences locally and regionally.

Mission

The Department of Foreign Languages is committed to preparing English and French teachers for pre-university stages of education and developing them academically, professionally, and ethically via offering integrated and advanced academic programs in the area of linguistics, literature, and translation. In addition, the department promotes effective communication with the different cultures to be able to compete in the local and regional labor markets, and to have the opportunity to contribute effectively in research and community service in the light of its authentic values and traditions.

First: Academic and Qualification Objectives: • Preparing English and French language teachers with distinguished academic competence. • Providing students with advanced language skills and modern teaching competencies. • Developing students’ critical thinking skills in analyzing literary and linguistic texts. • Qualifying graduates who are capable of effective and professional communication, enhancing linguistic awareness, and promoting dialogue in multicultural environments. Second: Research and Innovation Objectives: • Encouraging rigorous scientific research in the fields of theoretical and applied linguistics, foreign and comparative literature, and translation studies. • Creating an innovative educational environment based on integrating digital technology into the teaching and learning of foreign languages. Third: Professional and Community Objectives: • Instilling and strengthening professional, ethical, and educational values among department students through academic programs and distinguished interactive activities. • Encouraging students to contribute to community service and the development of the educational environment through active participation in workshops, seminars, and conferences. • Developing graduates’ skills to qualify them for work in various fields in addition to teaching, such as translation, tourism, media, journalism, and linguistic consultancy for institutions, in order to keep pace with the changing demands of the labor market.
