Vision

The department is a distinguished department locally and regionally in the area of educational psychology. In addition, it is a scientific innovative environment which contributes to the development of the educational system and the preparation of professional cadres able to compete and advance the educational process.

Mission

The Department of Educational Psychology seeks to provide distinguished academic and research programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These programs aim to prepare competent teachers and educational researchers specialized in educational psychology, capable of developing educational knowledge and employing it to solve educational problems, thereby contributing to societal advancement and meeting the requirements of the labor market in accordance with academic quality standards. The department also offers effective consultative and community services that contribute to achieving sustainable development in the surrounding community.

  • The department objectives are represented in the following main areas:

    1. Professional and Educational Preparation (for Students): • Providing undergraduate and postgraduate students with the theoretical and practical foundations of educational psychology, enabling them to understand learner behavior and individual characteristics.

    • Developing teachers’ skills in educational measurement and evaluation to enable them to construct achievement tests and accurately diagnose learning difficulties.

    • Promoting a culture of self-directed learning and lifelong learning by introducing students to strategies for recognizing individual differences and learning styles.

    2. Scientific Research and Innovation:

    • Directing educational research toward addressing real-world issues and problems in the educational field (such as school violence, academic underachievement, and academic inclusion).

    • Developing standardized psychological and educational scales and tools appropriate to the Egyptian context and the local environment.

    • Keeping pace with global trends in cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence in education, and digital psychology.

    3. Community Service and Environmental Development:

    • Providing psychological and educational consultation services to educational institutions and schools affiliated with the Gharbia Directorate of Education.

    • Organizing training programs and workshops for teachers and school psychologists to enhance their skills in academic counseling and classroom management.

    • Contributing to solving community problems by offering awareness programs for parents on sound educational practices in dealing with children at different developmental stages.

    4. Quality Assurance and Institutional Development:

    • Periodically updating the curricula and courses offered by the department in accordance with quality assurance and academic accreditation standards.

    • Enhancing the use of digital technology in teaching educational psychology courses and in electronic assessment processes.
